"Two months ago, I thought I could finally relax. But in the last two weeks, two major problems were popping up. And unfortunately you are one of them."
I feel the desperate urge for a cigarette and some fresh air. Right now. I never wanted to give anywone the feeling of letting them down. I look out the window, it's sunny outside. In here, the air-conditioning is running but I am feeling hot and my eyes sting. Pull yourself together!
"I know, it's not exactly the perfect timing", I say, my voice quavering and it makes me angry to sound like I feel, "But I also know that this is the right decision for me."
He looks at me reproachfully and disappointedly, takes his pencil and starts filling in the companies' termination checklist form. With me sitting right next to him, feeling like a water ball being deflated...

Well and at home? I go on thinking. I think about the situation with my boss. And the situation with a friend of mine some time ago. And then there's this guy who... I overthink the things. I analyze them so much, that in the end, there are only small pieces of the original situation left. And these pieces don't make sense at all. It's like putting together the parts of some goddamn IKEA furniture without the manual.

Communication between two individuals takes place between sender and receiver, whereby there are different levels. If somebody is telling me something on the factual level, I am receiving on the relationship level. Not always, but more often then looking at the things said to me objectively and unemotional. It is to say that the relationship level is always the more strenuous of the two levels. It's full of accusations, rejections, disappointment and blame. But the worst thing is: all these feelings might not even really be there and said. If somebody says: "Dot.", that's what I hear: "Dot, comma, dash, question mark, exclamation point, period!"

And that's exhausting. It's like a non-stop rollercoaster ride and every looping turns your stomach and makes you feel queasy and before you can relax and recover - you get the next looping.
Some people say, it's a form of narcissism if you interpret all signals send by your environment are meant for you. Some say, it's only weak self-esteem. I would say, it's just that some people are more sensitive than others and can receive a lot more shades of a conversation than others. And all in all, I don't think it is a bad thing to look closely at others and try to understand what they are thinking and why they are doing certain things. Showing empathy makes being together a lot more pleasant normally.

As long as you don't forget to stand your ground and still do the things that are important to you - instead of only looking for a harmonic together. There will always be people you won't understand - because their messages are sent on a completely different frequency. And in Dothraki.

Not everything is meant as it's said and many things you think are meant and not said are not worth wracking your brain.
